Phytochemical Analysis of Essential Oil of Citrus bigardia L Growing in Shiraz

Abstract


The comopition of the essential oil from the blossoms of citrus bigardia growing in shiraz region of Iran was investigated by GC and GC/Ms. Ten monoterpenes and two sesquiterpenes were among the main constituents in the oil.
The main components of the volatile oil were B - pinene (4.07%), limonene (0.70%), terpinenyl acetate (4. 92% , linaloo! (38.3%), - terpinyl acetate (8.15%), graniol (4.39%), iinalyl acetate (10.24%) mytcene (4.08%), neryl acetate (4.72%) and farnesyi acetate (4.35%). Among these components the predominant ones were linalool and linalyl acetate. The presence of both predominant components were confirmed by TLC and GC.
